ITV Rebranding

ITV rebrand

So, last month saw the significant revamp and launch of the new ITV branding that follows the major reorganisation of the network.

It colourful new look has been introduced across all of the networks channels giving them a fresh new coherent look.

So why the need to change?

“The rebranding of ITV will allow us to further cement the relationship in viewers’ minds between our shows and the ITV brand that produces and broadcasts them. We now have a consistent identity across everything that we do, all rooted in our positioning as a media brand that is at the heart of popular culture. As with any new identity system for a well-known brand, it will take some getting used to. The scheme has a lot more personality that the previous ITV system.”

Rufus Radcliffe
Group Director of Marketing and Research at ITV

To conclude, I believe the new look gives them a strong modern identity, the colour scheme gives them even more flexibility and scope to further develop (look at Sky and how adaptive that identity has become). The typeface is beautifully crafted by the very talented team at FS London, it straightaway feels more modern and friendlier than its predecessor.

Branding remains key to any business success, so if you are looking to rebrand your business get in touch, our experience and expertise can help.

Sculptor Jason Freeny has sculpted these wonderful famous charactors and by using his creativity has portrayed them in a new and sensational way. Anatomy cuts are Jason’s speciality and these are fantastic pieces.

From Mario to Nemo, Jason has done the anatomy of a great amount of characters. Here you can see some examples of his work or follow him and like his Facebook page. I really hope you enjoy these :)

New camera rig from edelcrone®

I was looking at some different camera rigs, and came across this nice, versatile bit of kit – the edelcrone® Pocket Rig.

There are videographers who like the compact size of DSLRs, and who don’t want to lose this advantage by using a large rig. The Pocket Rig is designed to provide any DSLR camera with the ability to perform stabilized videography whilst being as light and mobile as hand-held photography.

As such the rig gives you the versatility to shoot photos and video simultaneously.

Wouldn’t mind giving one of these a go and seeing it in action!

Websites to be forced to identify trolls…

I often wondered how long it would be before something was finally done about trolls and trolling. It’s been too long in my opinion but finally it looks like something is finally being done about it…

Simple but effective…

Cookie compliance, is your website legal?

What is the EU Cookie Law?

The EU Cookie Law come into force on 26th May 2012. The UK Government will begin enforcing the EU ePrivacy Directive (AKA ‘the EU Cookie Law’).

The law aims to protect the privacy of EU citizens as they use the internet, and actually covers several aspects of privacy, not just cookies. The UK Information Commissioners Office (ICO) says:

“Cookies or similar devices must not be used unless the subscriber or user of the relevant terminal equipment:

(a) is provided with clear and comprehensive information about the purposes of the storage of, or access to, that information; and
(b) has given his or her consent.

The Regulations are not prescriptive about the sort of information that should be provided, but the text should be sufficiently full and intelligible to allow individuals to clearly understand the potential consequences of allowing storage and access to the information collected by the device should they wish to do so.”

How do you know if your website uses cookies or similar technologies?

To know what you have to do to comply with the EU Cookie Law, you first need to know what cookies your site is using. It might be more than you think.

For example, does your website have any of these technologies or features?

WordPress, or any other content management system
Google Analytics, or any similar website analytics program
A blog
Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or other social media “like” buttons or plugins
Flash
Google AdSense and/or AdWords
Personalised settings e.g. a welcome message, remember my email, “don’t show me popup ‘x’”
A shopping basket / cart
All of these features use cookies.

How do I comply with the EU Cookie Law?

Complying with the EU Cookie Law is not as complex as you might first think.

You need to:

Understand the law
Determine if it applies to you
Decide on a course of action
Update your website and privacy policy
Monitor your website’s use of cookies and similar technologies
Stay informed

What this means for website owners

Your website must comply or else you face an investigation and potentially a €500,000 fine.

Filming in France

We recently visited our clients at Cherpont in France to make a film about their Carp Fishery. The film was shot in broadcast quality HD digital and consists of interviews, fishing action, wildlife, landscapes and time lapse footage.

The film is currently being edited together incorporating voice overs, graphics and titles and sound design.

We’ll post a link to the final cut of the film in due course…
